First post, first day, something new. Get those keys from the agent, and let’s get started on this whole blog thing!
WordPress suggests, in its infinite wisdom, that starting from some of these questions is a good idea:
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
They’re good, but perhaps not in the right order for me.
The site is inspired primarily by my wanting to write about renovating my home. It’s going to be a pretty substantial piece of work, totally changing it. I think it’ll be interesting to look back on it, from a selfish viewpoint! Also, working now in the time of Covid-19, using my time of quiet, isolated evenings to make something feels right.
I also want to offer inspiration and information to likeminded people. You might find something useful for your own project, or you might just be super-nosey about houses and the like – I certainly am! I find architecture and history really interesting, and the colony houses have lots of interesting things going on on both fronts.
I’d love to connect with folks who like any of these things, along with Edinburgh- and Scotland-geeks, folks with interest in social change around housing, photographers, and anyone who can get me a discount on a new kitchen. Kidding! Well…mostly. Interior design fans, colour experts, and just all-round nice folks are all welcome.
Well, there we go, that’s a start. I’ve got a long list of things to write about already, so we’ll see how that goes. I’m also tempted to capture some of the colony houses that are on sale, because I love that sort of thing.
Thanks for reading this far…I wonder where this will end up (3 posts written then dies)
